Homework & learning updates
Welcome back to school! I hope everyone's Thanksgiving was wonderful. This week, students will need to get a chapter book that is on level by Wednesday. Independent reading time will be devoted to reading this book, and homework assignments will be based on it. I am stressing the importance of sticking with the book that you pick because students often check out books, and then they don't read them. We are going to the library on Monday, and students also have the opportunity to go during lunch every day.
Homework Monday - Nouns, proper nouns, and pronouns practice. Tuesday - Action verbs and linking verbs practice Wednesday - Adjectives and adverbs practice Thursday - Prepositions practice Friday - Conjunctions practice Monday - AECEC paragraph: Compare and contrast the book version of Freak the Mighty with the film adaptation of the book. (We watched the film today and finished the book last Thursday).
Tuesday - Write literal, interpretive (inferential), and universal thoughts (one of each) about the poem on p.131 of SpringBoard. Wednesday - Multiple choice test corrections on mid-unit test. Thursday - Rewrite AECEC from mid-unit test for grade recovery. We will be finishing Freak the Mighty this week and students will NEED to have an independent reading book by next Monday.
Monday - AEC - Why did Max’s father tie him up? What does this suggest about their relationship? Tuesday - AEC - How does Philbrick use sensory language to describe the setting in chapter nineteen? (First block will need to write an AECEC paragraph and at "and the plot?" to the end of the question. Wednesday - Read chapter 22. Students will be quizzed on it tomorrow. Thursday - Finish rough draft and have a parent check it. Friday - Finish final draft if you didn't finish it in class. Students will be told to take it home so that parents can make sure it is done. We are in the middle of reading Freak the Mighty this week, and students will be practicing identifying pronouns and their antecedents during warm-up time each day.
Monday - AEC: How does Philbrick include foreshadowing in Iggy’s dialogue at the end of chapter eleven? Tuesday - Multiple choice test corrections. Write an AEC paragraph explaining the correct answer for each question that was missed. Due tomorrow. Students may also rewrite their test response in order to bring their test grade up. This is due by Friday. Wednesday - Read chapter 13. Students will be quizzed on it tomorrow. Thursday - Complete a CSR log for chapters fifteen and sixteen of Freak the Mighty. |
